Kid feared drowned in river after slipping from father's arms

A one-and-half-year-old girl who accidentally fell into the Musi river at Nagole here on Thursday after slipping from her father's arms is feared to have drowned, the police said.

The incident occurred when M Shyam Reddy, an NRI from the United Kingdom, held his daughter Manvi in his arms on the railing of a bridge, when she suddenly slipped from his arms and fell into the river, the police said.

"The baby accidentally fell into the river after slipping from her father's arms," Deputy Commissioner of Police (L B Nagar Zone) Ravi Varma said.

Reddy, had come down to Hyderabad a few days ago and took his daughter and two other children of his relative to the river for sightseeing, sources said.

A search operation was launched after the incident and it is feared that the girl has drowned, they said.
