Rampant encroachments irk Vikrampuri residents
Illegal constructions and encroachments have been rampant at Vikrampuri Co-op Housing Building Society, much to the dismay of its residents. Illegal constructions and encroachments have been rampant at Vikrampuri Co-op Housing Building Society, much to the dismay of its residents. H Kishan, president, Vikrampuri Co-op Housing Building Society, said, “Three hospitals -- Rainbow Hospital, Nest Children’s Hospital, Parvathi Super Speciality Hospital -- besides schools, software companies, commercial parking lots and other commercial establishments have come up in the area without the approval or permission by the cantonment authorities.
The entire residential environment is being disturbed. This is in spite of the Supreme Court orders, barring these activities in residential and civilian colonies being in force.” The society has served notices to Dev Khushalani for the illegal leasing of a vacant plot for car parking to Rainbow Hospital. The society had also complained to the Divisional Cooperative Officer, Secunderabad, two years ago to initiate legal proceedings, but in vain.

Thefts, chain snatching, eve teasing, etc, have increased in the last few years. Cars and two wheelers are parked haphazardly. “We have lodged several complaints with the SCB authorities and the Commissioner. No action has been taken till date. We have filed another complaint with Sujatha Gupta, chief executive officer, SCB, on January 30, requesting the board to intervene and take appropriate action to fix the problem,” Kishan said.
