To facilitate free flow of traffic in the city, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Somesh Kumar chaired a review meeting on Wednesday with officials from Hyderabad Police, Metro Rail, HMWS&SB and the TPCPDCL. The Commissioner asked all the departments to coordinate and visit important junctions, road widening sites and check electrical poles obstructing vehicular movement to make it a convenient ride for the citizens and also spruce up the pedestrians’ access to the footpath.

Somesh Kumar advised all departments to speed up road widening works and take it up in a phased manner. “The electricity department should personally monitor and shift damaged electrical poles slowing down the movement of vehicles on priority,” he added.

The powerlines which block traffic would be shifted to another location

The relocation of overhead power lines at Jubilee Hills Check Post, Madhapur, Madhurangar, Khairatabad and Nampally by the electricity department could fix the traffic chaos in the city. All electrical poles that cause obstruction at footpaths would be relocated. The Commissioner assured that the GHMC will coordinate with the concerned departments to expedite the restoration works on priority if the heads of the departments can furnish details of the works which are to be taken up.
