GHMC to make markets cleaner

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) would be making arrangements to lift garbage from 13 main vegetable and fruit markets in the city. The lifting of garbage from all the fruit and vegetable markets at Gaddiannaram, LB Nagar, Madannapet, Mir Alam Mandi, Malakpet, Begum Bazaar, Osmangunj, Kishan Gunj and Moosapet would commence soon.

The lifting of garbage from all the fruit and vegetable markets at Gaddiannaram, LB Nagar, Madannapet, Mir Alam Mandi, Malakpet, Begum Bazaar, Osmangunj, Kishan Gunj and Moosapet would commence soon.

A team headed by GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar along with solid waste management experts Dr Majumdar and Sanjay Singh, Additional Commissioner (H&S) N Ravi Kiran and marketing committee members, inspected the Gudimalkapur fruit and vegetable market at Mehdipatnam on Tuesday.

The Commissioner directed the Additional Commissioner (H&S) and officials of the marketing committee to closely monitor duly coordinating among the both the wings to clear the garbage waste which is being generated from the 13 agricultural markets in the city. The Commissioner further directed the town planning and health officials to personally monitor the lifting of the garbage. Drinking water facilities and an RO plant would be set up at the Gudimalkapur market apart from restrooms for farmers coming from the districts.
