Syeda Salva FatimaChief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday sanctioned a financial support package of Rs 35.5 lakh to Syeda Salva Fatima to undergo multi-engine rating and type rating training courses for pilots. Fatima, a graduate from Dr B R Ambedkar Open University, is the first Muslim girl from Old City to pursue the course. With this money, Fatima will become a full-fledged commercial pilot after completion of the training. Fatima thanked the chief minister for the help.

Congress MLC Farooq Hussain and MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi earlier appealed to the State Government to consider Fatima’s request and the chief minister responded positively. The sanction letter is based on verification of details of applicant by the director of Minorities Welfare. The director, in his report, mentioned that the applicant’s father is working in a bakery and eking out a living and the applicant’s husband is working in a private company and as such the income of the family is very low and cannot afford the huge fees.

The financial assistance will be released to Telangana State Aviation Academy upon the applicant taking admission in the academy. MLC Farooq Hussain, Minority Welfare Secretary Syed Omer Jaleel and Special Secretary to CM Bhoopal Reddy were present on the occasion.
