The Larsen &Toubro Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (L&THMRL), the concessionaire for the Hyderabad Metro Rail, was directed to prepare alternate alignments at three locations of Hyderabad Metro Rail corridors and submit a report along with financial implications at the weekly Special Task Force meeting on Tuesday.

The Metro Rail work has been moving at snail’s pace in certain areas as the State Government did not take a decision on the realignment especially in the Old City. The realignment has been an issue that the government and L&THMRL have been battling out for more than a year. The acquisition of properties also came up for discussion in the meeting. There are 192 private and 59 government vested municipal properties.

Hyderabad Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy informed that 29 properties were dismantled and acquisition process for 124 properties was completed and the cheques needed to be handed over to the parties concerned. Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma directed the land acquisition officers to bring to his notice about legal hurdles so that the process could be expedited in conjunction with the advocate general. GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy collectors were also informed to expedite cheque disbursement.

Home secretary B Venkatesham presented the security plan for Hyderabad Metro Rail and the responsibilities to be shared by the State Government and the concessionaire. Rajiv directed L&TMRHL CEO & MD VB Gadgil to study the security plan prepared by the three member committee consisting of MD, HMR and Police Commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad and submit a report.
