All three major roads around Hussain Sagar lake in the heart of the city will be closed for traffic from 10 p.m. on Thursday to 2 a.m. on Friday.

All flyovers in the city will also be closed to keep New Year revelry under check.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahendar Reddy said they were taking all measures to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.

The traffic police will undertake extensive checks to curb drunken, rash and negligent driving, over speeding, triple riding on two-wheelers and other traffic violations in the interest of public order and safety.

In the limits of Cyberabad police commissionerate, police have announced that Outer Ring Road (ORR) will be closed between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., except for medium and heavy goods vehicles and passengers travelling to the airport.

PVNR Express Way and all flyovers in Cyberabad Commissionerate jurisdiction will also be closed for traffic.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand said check posts will be installed by at various places to check rash and drunken driving.

Police have also imposed restriction that all New Year parties should end by 1 a.m.

Under Cyberabad police limits, which cover the information technology hubs of Hitec City and Gachibowli and the outskirts, there are 25 Star-Hotels, three pubs, 22 resorts and 269 farm-houses.

The organisers of the parties have been instructed to allow only couples from their registered members. Use of D.J. and display of nude dance has also been prohibited.
