Hyderabad: Five persons were injured in a stampede at an army recruitment camp in the city on Friday after hundreds of aspirants tried to rush into the ground at once soon after the stadium gates were thrown open.

Recently, a notification for recruitment of 29 posts in Territorial Army was issued and the physical emanation test was being held on Friday. Around 10,000 persons had come to attend the recruitment camp at Trimulgherry stadium in Secunderabad.

The stampede occurred when thousands of people rushed into the ground at once as the army officials opened the gate. Five persons suffered injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. One among the injured persons is said to be in a critical condition.

Trimulgherry police said the crowd was uncontrollable. As the army officials opened, all the men rushed inside the ground at once resulting in stampede. Few people fell down and others ran over them. Some men suffered bleeding injuries and they are rushed to a nearby hospital.

It took some time for the army officials and local police to control the crowd and ensure normal condition at the camp.
