The White House did not immediately return calls for comment on the reports.
Obama, along with first lady Michelle was to visit Taj Mahal on January 27.

Elaborate security arrangement had been made to welcome US President. About 100 American security personnel along with their 4000 Indian counterparts were deployed to ensure a protective cover to Obama and his wife.
The security cover involves intense ground-to-air paraphernalia to ensure that there is no untoward incident during the visit of the world's most guarded leader.
A 30-member advance team of the US President's security had already been camping here and was visiting the Taj Mahal daily to fine-tune the security details in coordination local police officials.
600 workers were mobilised to scrub streets in Agra. Apart from cleaning white lines on the roads, authorities had been rounding up stray dogs, clearing cows from the streets, and have ordered a lockdown around the complex.
Obama is on a 3-day visit to India from January 25-27 and will be the "chief guest" at Republic Day parade. He is the first US President to be invited for the event.
