Wellington: Michelle Obama is not happy with the fact that her daughters are spending less and less time with her and husband Barack Obama as they are growing up.

The 51-year-old First Lady, who has two teenage girls, Malia, 16, and Sasha, 13, with the President, said that they were the "last people our kids want to be with and it was like the girls were preparing them for "empty nest syndrome," Stuff.co.nz reported.

However, they were not relishing that at all and might have to get Obama some new hobbies to fill the free time, she added.

Michelle also admitted to have threatened them that she would buy an apartment near their campus and visit them in their classes, adding that both she and the President loved to embarrass their children, which they take sportingly.

She said that education had been main foundation and she had raised her daughters to be independent, confident young women who would build great independent lives for themselves.
