Tunisia's state of emergency is further extended to one month. The measure was adopted in the wake of the suicide bombing attack against the presidential guard.

"The President of the Republic decided to further extend the state of emergency to one month from 22 February, 2016 ", said the Presidence.

On 24 November, 2015, a terror attack against a presidential security bus had left at least twelve Tunisian agents dead. The attack happened on a major thoroughfare of the capital and the Islamic State later claimed responsability for it.

The decision comes two days after a U.S. strike on an Islamic State training camp in neighboring Libya that killed a senior extremist leader who is believe to be a Tunisian.

President Beji Caïd Essebsi had immediately decided to declare the State of Emergency all across the country and imposed a curfew on the Great Tunis.

The State of Emergency had already been launched following Islamic State's attack against a beach resort nearby the city of Sousse, which left thirty eight foreign tourists dead.

The measure had been lifted early October.
