At Least 16 people were left dead. Among them, fourteen civilians, two special force soldiers were killed in the attack said President Ouattara.

A total of six gunmen were killed according to Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara who proceeded to the scene.

A search and sweep operation is still being conducted to find any other assaillant.

Ivory Coast was once one of the most stable countries in West Africa.

However, a civil war broke out in 2002, pitting the mainly Muslim north against the largely Christian south. Since then, peace deals have alternated with renewed violence.
