Kabul: Afghan intelligence operatives have arrested Haqqani network militants before the suspects manage to target the parliament building.

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the militants with BM12 rockets were looking to attack the parliament building, reports Khaama Press.

However, no further details were provided regarding the exact location where the militants were arrested by the intelligence operatives.

The Haqqani network was formed in the late 1970s by Jalaluddin Haqqani and is allied with al-Qaida and the Afghan Taliban and cooperates with other terrorist organizations in the region.

The network is accused of staging numerous cross-border attacks from their base in North Waziristan.
