The head of the World Baloch Women Forum (WBWF), Prof Naela Quadri Baloch, has written a letter to the United States President Donald Trump seeking his intervention in Balochistan.
Washington DC [United States]: The head of the World Baloch Women Forum (WBWF), Prof Naela Quadri Baloch, has written a letter to the United States President Donald Trump seeking his intervention in Balochistan.
"America First Foreign Policy demands an Independent Balochistan" as subject of her letter, Prof Naela writes, "Several countries across the world believe that your commitment to America First Foreign Policy harms their interests. There is, at least, one notable exception to it, Balochistan."
Prof Naela highlighted the issues faced by people of Balochistan due to Pakistan authorities' atrocious behaviour and Islamabad-Beijing nexus to loot their resources.
"Balochistan has, in fact, become a double colony as it is occupied by Pakistan that itself has been reduced to a colony of China. Pakistan is allowing China to loot our resources. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has emerged as the "corridor of misery" for us as our people are being displaced by this corridor, whose purpose includes the loot of our mineral wealth and providing China a naval foothold next to the strategically important Persian Gulf," she writes.
"Balochistan is realizing barely one per cent of the value of the resources being extracted from its territory and the use of its ports. Balochistan, which accounts for 49 per cent of Pakistan's overall area, five of the six major ports, and a large part of Pakistan's mineral wealth, is unsurprisingly the least developed part of Pakistan. The following table summarizes what Balochistan gives to Pakistan and what it gets in return," she added.
She emphasised that if U.S. will help in the Balochistan's freedom movement, they it can have the access to the region's resources, which are currently exploited by the Pakistanis and Chinese.
In her letter Prof. Naela further highlighted that Pakistan is immensely benefitting from Balochistan and in return it's torturing the local people of the region.
She pointed out that USD 60 billion China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC) project would not have been conceived without the Baloch coastline, however, in return the region is getting only 0.5 per cent share in CPEC funds.
Prof Naela described Balochistan as double colony as it is occupied by Pakistan that itself has been reduced to a colony of China.
"Pakistan is allowing China to loot our resources. The CPEC has emerged as the "corridor of misery" for us as our people are being displaced by this corridor, whose purpose includes the loot of our mineral wealth and providing China a naval foothold next to the strategically important Persian Gulf," she writes.
The Baloch activist tells the President Trump that Pakistan using the region to provide safe havens to the terrorist groups, who are attacking the American troops in Afghanistan.
"Your defence department will tell you that Pakistan is indispensable. What they will not tell you is that Pakistan is indispensable only until Balochistan is a colony of Pakistan. Presently, Pakistan controls the only major access to Afghanistan through Karachi and blackmails the United States that depends on the Karachi port for transfer of supplies to its forces stationed in Afghanistan. Unlike Pakistan, an independent Balochistan will not deny landlocked Afghanistan access to sea," she writes.
"Moreover, an independent Balochistan will not promote terrorism in Afghanistan as Pakistan has been doing for decades. Unfortunately, right now our soil is being used by Pakistan to house the Taliban who are responsible for so many deaths of American soldiers in Afghanistan. However, an independent Balochistan will deny support to Jihadi terrorists. At another level, an independent Balochistan will help the United States curb Chinese influence in this part of the world," she further writes.
She stated that Pakistan is using the weapons provided to combat terrorism, in carrying out massacre of innocent Baloh people and urged the U.S. President to stop that.
"We would like to appeal to you to support our seven decade struggle for independence in the interests of the United States. At least, the United States can insist that Pakistan should not use the weapons provided to combat terrorism to massacre innocent Baloch people," she concludes.
