6 drowned in a well

Kadapa: Six persons got drowned in an old dilapidated well near a farm in Buduguntepalle village of Railway Koduru in the district on Monday. About 15 people fell in the well on Monday out of which nine persons could come out safely, while the remaining six got drowned. Among those who drowned included Gangaiah (35), Vimala (30), Sunita (30), Charan (10), Suresh (16) and Sowjanya (10). Three survivors Ramesh, Lakshmi Devi and Mahesh were shifted to hospital for treatment. According to information available, one person was teaching the children how to swim in the well. Several women and children were watching standing near the parapet wall of the well. Suddenly, the wall caved in and the women and children fell in the well. The swimmer managed to pull out five persons to safety and four others who knew swimming managed to come out.
