The police fired in the air to break up a group of YSRCP activists at Ambakapalli village of Lingala mandal, after they pelted stones at them. An SI and three constables were injured in the incident. They were hospitalised

The trouble arose when the YSRCP activists were celebrating the unanimous election of Ankireddy Damodar Reddy, a supporter of the party. A youth of Ambakapalli, Chinna Raju, died when the two-wheeler he was riding hit a road-divider accidentally, when the partymen were going back in high spirits.

The police summoned Damodar Reddy to the station blaming the celebrations for the mishap. This was blocked by villagers. Provoked, the police tried to forcibly take him and other YSRCP activists to the station, leading to the stone attack. The police dispersed the trouble-makers using lathis, further provoking them to hurl more missiles.

Following the incident, Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar Sinha left for Pulivendula. He later called on the injured policemen at the hospital.
