Khammam: The Agricultural Officers must see that the farmers cultivate suitable crops in coming Rabi season for getting better yield and profits, said District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar here on Thursday. The Collector chaired a review meeting with agricultural officers here at Collectorate Conference Hall to discuss the cultivation of suitable crops in ensuing Rabi season.

Addressing the officials, the Collector said “Officials must suggest farmers to go for cultivation of suitable crops in the Rabi season instead of cultivating the paddy.” “Due to fake chilli seeds, as many as 3,300 farmers faced a loss in 1,780 acres of land. Prepare a report on the loss faced by the farmers in the previous season and take initiation for providing compensation to such farmers from the seed dealers who sold them spurious seeds,” ordered the Collector.

“The Agricultural Officers must observe the publicity given by the seed dealers to attract the farmers for cheating them and must take necessary actions against them and permit only those dealers who posses licence to sell their seeds. The officers must take the photographs of a farmer along with his field who faced loss due to fake seeds or due to natural disasters and must attach them with the report before submitting them,” ordered the Collector.

District Agriclutural Officer Jhansilakshmi Kumari, Horticultural Officers R Srinivas Rao and Gingu Mariyanna and Agricultural Officers of various mandals were present at the review meeting.
