Kanumukkala: Minister for IT and Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao assured that the government will promote handlooms globally by gifting their products to foreign delegates, who visit the State for official purpose.

He visited the textile park located in Kanumukkala of Pochampally mandal, Malkapuram Textile Park in Choutuppal mandal in Yadadri district on Thursday.

KTR interacted with workers of the parks and inquired their problems and assured them that their problems would be addressed very soon. He directed officials to distribute tricycles to physically challenged workers immediately.

Later speaking to the media, the Minister said soon after coming to power, the Telangana government sanctioned Rs 5 crores for the development of infrastructure at textile parks.

He urged public representatives and employees to wear handloom clothes once in a week to encourage handlooms. Local youth and women would be trained at textile parks in order to provide employment to them in the units of the parks.

Water facility to the textile parks would be provided under Mission Bhagiratha, KTR added. Permission to non-functioning units in the park since one year will be cancelled.

The government is paying special attention to handlooms development and the sector will get golden days within one year, he underlined. The Government is intended to increase the capacity of handloom park in Pochampally also. Officials of various department and local public representatives accompanied the Minister.
