Manuguru: It is a story of grit and confidence, a classical example of how to overcome any hardship despite being a physically handicapped. Parsika Raju, a graduate who has been trained to be a teacher, is fast turning a fiery inspiration for people of his generation with his impressive and incredible story of survival braving all odds.

Raju, son of Chandraiah and Sitamma, residents of Kummarigudem in Aswapuram mandal of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district lost both his hands in an electric accident when he was in class II. But he did not lose hopes. Despite having no help from authorities or philanthropists, he surmounted the deficiency with confidence and excelled in academics.

Raju’s confidence taught him how to write with toes. In spite of not having hands, he handles mobile phone with ease. Moreover, he swims across River Godavari despite his handicap.

He practiced writing holding the pen between the toes. Since completing SSC in 2005, he did not look back. He completed Inter, graduation and B Ed making the people awestruck with his accomplishments.

Raju has been eagerly waiting to secure a good job to take care of his aged parents. Raju said that he excelled in academics like able-bodied persons in spite of his handicap and lamented that government was yet to come to his rescue.

Whatever, he set an example for others to overcome deformities and move ahead in life.
