Khammam: All the welfare schemes introduced by the State government must reach the poor and downtrodden, ordered Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadepalli Kavitha.

She chaired a review meeting with the officials concerned on the implementation of various schemes related to rural development, agriculture, education, health, women welfare, social welfare, at ZP Hall in Khammam on Tuesday.

Addressing the officials, Kavitha said the government had introduced several schemes for the benefit of Scheduled castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Castes and Minorities. The officials must take necessary steps to identify the real beneficiaries and make sure in extending the benefits to them, she advised.

Stating that officials must make sure providing basic facilities in government-run education institutions and hostels, Kavitha said post and pre-matric scholarships that are allotted under the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department must be credited to the bank account of the beneficiary students directly.

“Take immediate steps for clearing the pending applications of Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi, apart from issuing Rs 2 lakh cheques under rehabilitation to the persons who stopped manufacture and sale of illicit liquor,” suggested the ZP.

Chief Executive Officer of the ZP Marapaka Nagesh, Deputy CEO K Bharati, SC Welfare Officer Achyutananda Gupta, District BC Welfare Officer Hrushikesh Reddy, District Minority Officer Ramesh and the District Welfare officers of Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Mahabubabad and Jayashankar-Bhupalpalli districts were present.
