Kothagudem: An Assistant Engineer of Singareni Collieries Company Limited was caught red-handed on Tuesday while demanding and accepting Rs one lakh from a contractor to pass his final bill for Rs 25 lakh.
The contractor executed civil works worth Rs 25 lakh and approached Assistant Engineer (Civil) Rajasekhar for clearing the bill, which was the last in the series of bills. When he demanded bribe from the contractor, he alerted the ACB officials.
The ACB officials, led by DSP Saibaba, laid the trap and caught the SCCL official while accepting the bribe amount.
