The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) at its board of directors meeting held in Hyderabad on Monday decided to pay Rs 25 lakh to the employees declared unfit to serve the SCCL on health grounds and to those who die while on duty.

Alternatively, a monthly consolidated amount of Rs 25,000 will be paid to the medically invalid and employees dying in harness.

Prior to the TRS coming to power, in the undivided AP, a compensation of Rs 5 lakh was paid. When the TRS came to power, it increased the ex gratia to Rs 12.5 lakh.

On the directions of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the SCCL board meeting on Monday hiked it further to Rs 25 lakh.

Earlier, Rs 15,712 was paid towards the monthly monetary compensation, in lieu of the job. The board meeting hiked it to Rs 25,000.

Also, the board approved provision of the super specialty medical treatment to the parents of employees at corporate hospitals in places like Hyderabad.

Woman employees having children below the age of 18 years can avail two years of childcare leave. The board approved April 14, the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, as a paid holiday.

It also agreed to pay merit-based incentives to the SCCL officials for the period 2014-15 and 2015-16. The board also decided to entrust work to execute the second thermal power plant (800 MW) at Jaipur to the public sector major, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

It may be recalled that earlier the BHEL executed a 1,200 MW thermal power plant at Jaipur for the SCCL. The State government ordered the establishment of an 800 MW thermal power plant at Jaipur.

It recently cleared the Detailed Project Report submitted by the SCCL and advised the company to entrust the works to BHEL for speedy and efficient execution.

The SCCL board of directors at the Monday’s meeting decided to award the works to the BHEL on nomination basis. SCCL chairman-cum-managing director N Sridhar chaired the meeting.

Union Coal Ministry directors JS Bhindra, Sayeed Asraf, WCL CMD RR Misra, Special Secretary to State government’s Department of Energy Ajay Mishra, Finance Director J Pavithran Kumar, Director (P and P) B Bhaskar Rao, Director of Operations S Chandrasekhar, Director (E and M) S Sankar and others took part in the programme.
