Khammam: To prevent chain-snatching incidents and to create awareness among people, particularly among women, the Circle Inspector of Khammam Rural Thirupati released a statement mentioning the preventive measures to be taken here on Friday in Khammam.

He urged the people to be alert and aware when they are going alone for early morning walk besides avoiding wearing and displaying of their valuable jewellery. He also asked the people to not to allow a stranger to follow and asked them to go to a public place immediately where they can call the police whenever they feel threatened. He suggested them to avoid walking alone in shadow and dark places.

The CI cautioned the people to beware of unknown persons who approach them suddenly and try to divert their attention. The women who will visit the schools to pick their children in the afternoon and in the evening must be alert in case the roads are deserted and must have a vigil on either side of the road. In case jewellery theft, raise the alarm by shouting to attract the attention of others to nab the chain snatchers, added the CI.

He also said if the women sensed that someone is being followed, then change the directions or cross the street immediately. The CI Thirupathi urged the people to convey the information immediately to the police if they notice any person moving suspiciously in their locality by dialing to mobile numbers 9440904302 and 9440785308.
