Gadwal: As part of Election Commission’s drive to conduct national-level competition among children between 14-17 years age group, the District Administration began the quiz competition drive on Monday.

According to Collector Rajat Kumar Saini, the quiz competition will be held on the topic ‘Voters and their Responsibilities’ as initiated by the Election Commission of India. In view of this the District Administration is planning to hold the competition at Mandal, Constituency and District level.

As part of this, the Collector launched the quiz competition at mandal-level where school students from 9th, 10th and Intermediate students of 1st and 2nd Year took part in large numbers in all the mandals. Based on the results of the mandal-level competition, the selected candidates from all the 12 mandals in the district will again compete at constituency-level which is scheduled to be held on 28th November.

As there are only two constituencies i.e. Gadwal and Alampur, the authorities are conducting the quiz competitions at government Junior colleges in the constituency headquarters from 2-3 pm in the evening. The selected top candidates from the constituency-level will again compete at the district-level on November 30 which is also scheduled to be held between 2-3pm on Friday at Bala Bhavan in Gadwal.

“The main objective of Election Commission of India’s drive to conduct quiz competition among the youngsters particularly in the age group 14-17 is to inculcate awareness among the children about the rights of a voter and their responsibility towards the society. The top selected candidates at the district-level will be sent to participate in the national-level quiz competition,” said Collector Rajat Kumar Saini.
