Hanamkonda: The university bandh called by Kakatiya University Non-Teaching Associations JAC’s on Monday passed off peacefully. The JAC members, who on agitation path for the past one week, have begun their protests by staging a black badges protest on the campus on last Tuesday. They have called for the bandh in support of their demand for filling up vacant ministerial posts in the university besides various other demands.
The work at the university was affected following the bandh. The JAC members and leaders have staged a massive agitation at the university administration building condemning the alleged negligent attitude of the administration in addressing their demands.
The JAC leaders M Narayana Rao, Narasimha Murthy, Shaganti Srinivas B Chukka Rao, M Satyanarayana, N Yellaiah, P Vishnuvardhan, P Ashok Babu, Ch Prabhakar and others demanded the university administration to initiate immediate measures to address their demands.
The JAC was demanding health cards to all employees, minimum wages to casual labourers, promotions to daily wage class IV employees, recognising senior daily wage employees as time-scale employees, filling up of backlog posts, regularising time-scale employees and clear their PRC dues, withdrawal of CPS, sanctioning of new posts for newly set up departments and colleges.
“For the past one week, we have been staging protests like bike rally, dharnas, pen down and candle light rally. But the university administration has not taken any measures to address out charter of 20-demands,” complained the JAC leaders Narayana Rao, Srinivas and Chukka Rao.
As the university Vice-Chancellor Prof R Sayanna was not available on the day, the Registrar Prof K Purushotham, SDLCE Director Prof Ch Dinesh Kumar, Controller of Examinations S Mahender Reddy, AKUT president Prof G Dayakar and others held discussions with the JAC leaders. They reportedly promised to address some of their demands.
