Indian Medical Association (IMA) Neelagiri unit of Nalgonda district, which consists of women, has proved its worth in national level by bagging the Local Branch Award. On behalf of the team, branch president Dr Vasantha Kumari received the award from IMA national president Dr KK Agarwal at the 92nd national-level annual conference of IMA held at Mumbai on December 27.

Nalgonda: Indian Medical Association (IMA) Neelagiri unit of Nalgonda district, which consists of women, has proved its worth in national level by bagging the Local Branch Award. On behalf of the team, branch president Dr Vasantha Kumari received the award from IMA national president Dr KK Agarwal at the 92nd national-level annual conference of IMA held at Mumbai on December 27.

Speaking to The Hans India on Thursday, Dr Vasantha Kumari informed that Neelagiri unit’s collective efforts in conducting several community oriented programmes in a span of one year has made them bag the national award.

The team consisting of doctors Sucharitha, Gowrisri, Rajeshwari Anitha Rani, Arundathi and Leelavathi has raised the image of district doctors at national level, she added.

Dr Vasantha Kumari further informed that from November 8, 2016 to November 31, 2017, the team had conducted 10 medical education programmes to update the medical skills of doctors, 10 specialised health camps.

They were able to collect as many as 500 units of blood during nine blood donation camps. Besides this, they conducted awareness programmes on health, air pollution, personnel hygiene, substance abuse, importance of eye, blood and organ donations in schools and colleges located in Nalgonda.

She also informed that IMA Neelagiri unit has been extending its support to district police’s Damini programme, which was designed for the welfare of girl students in the district. On the occasion, she thanked all the doctors, para medical staff, medical representatives and government officials for their support to IMA Neelagiri.
