Srikakulam: State Warehousing Corporation chairman L V S RK Prasad says that Srikakulam district, especially Agency area, needs more godowns to store farm produce of various grains. Prasad, along with Minister for Energy K Kala Venkata Rao, inaugurated two godowns with a storage capacity of 5,000 metric tonnes each at Bhamini mandal headquarters on Tuesday.  

The two godowns were completed at a cost of Rs 5.20 crore and are useful for farmers in Agency mandals. “The state government has decided to construct new godowns across the state to store 4 lakh metric tonnes of produce. As part of the programme, godowns would be constructed to store 70,000 metric tonnes (MT) in the district,” the corporation chief said.

At present, we are maintaining new godowns with 6 lakh MTs storage capacity directly under the government and another 6 lakh MTs storage capacity godowns under the Warehousing Corporation Management, he said.  

Minister, K Kala Venkata Rao has said that TDP government is committed for welfare of farmers in Agency area.  The new godowns in Bhamini will be easily accessible to Agency area.
