On Friday, he attended as chief guest to a programme organised as part of week-long birth anniversary celebrations of Sant Sevalal Maharaj, held at Clock Tower Centre in Nalgonda town.

Addressing the gathering after garlanding the picture of Sevalal, the Collector said following the footsteps of Sevalal, government introduced several schemes for the welfare Lambada community. Urging the people of Lambada community to utilise several government schemes designed for their economic growth, Uppal informed that educational institutes and hostels were established to provide education to their children.

After announcing Nalgonda as Gudumba-free district, several self-employment schemes were sanctioned to Lambadas to lead honourable life. Stating that baby-selling and killings were almost eradicated in the district through awareness programmes, the Collector informed that more such programmes would be carried out for the development of the community.

Superintendent of Police Srinivas Rao advised the tribals to follow the principles of Sevalal. District Revenue Officer Kheemya Naik, DTWO Narotham Reddy, RDO Venkata Chary, Sant Sevalal Maharaj Committee convener Praveen Naik, Balaji Naik, Pradeep Naik, Ramachandra Naik, Bhagavan Naik, Pandu Naik and large number of tribals attended the programme.
