Khammam: The State government is committed to the welfare of the downtrodden, said Health Minister C Laxma Reddy here on Tuesday.The Health Minister along with Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao inaugurated the Dialysis Kidney Centre established at a cost of Rs 50 lakhs at Sattupalli.

Speaking on the occasion, Laxma Reddy said it is only in Telangana that the government is establishing dialysis centres in every district. As many as 40 such centres were opened so far in the State, he said.

The government hospitals are providing better healthcare than the corporate hospitals. Even the rich are preferring to take treatment in the government hospitals. The institutional deliveries increased in government hospitals with the introduction of KCR kit scheme. The government is distributing Rs 12,000 each to the pregnant woman visiting the government hospitals, he said.

The Road and Buildings Minister, speaking on the occasion, said the government is striving for all-round development of the State. The government is taking steps to launch eye test programme across the State, he said.

Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Mahabubabad MP Sitaram Naik, State Scheduled Caste Corporation Chairman Pidamarthi Ravi, DCCB Chairman Muvva Vijay Babu, District Medical and Health Officer Kondal Rao, MPP J Appa Rao, ZPTC A Lakshmi, Sarpanch D Swathi and Health Department officials were present at the programme.
