Khammam: The Cyber Lab, established to keep a check on the cybercrime and criminals under Police Commissionerate limits, is yielding good results, said the Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal here on Tuesday.

The Police Commissioner was holding a meeting with the Technical Team of Cyber Lab at the Police Commissionerate in Khammam on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Tafseer Iqbal said as many as 33 cases were booked under cybercrime in the district till date. Out of them, as many as 20 cases related to online fraud. The fraudsters took advantage of online banking system and one- time password (OTP).

He said the fraudsters from within the country and outside had masqueraded as bank officials and cheated some persons of their money by drawing the cash through online. He cautioned the persons, who are conducting online banking, to take precautions to avoid pitfalls.

The Police Commissioner said the police had arrested a person for harassing a married woman by posting her photo on the Facebook. Complete details of the persons, who are indulged in anti-social activities by using social media, can be collected through “Social Discovery Technical Equipment,” he said.

Additional DCP K Suresh Kumar, technical team member Srinivas, Suresh, Prasad, Y V Krishna Rao and Radha Krishna were present at the programme.
