Demand for action against health officer grows shriller

Khammam: Rathnamma Voluntary organisation here on Tuesday here on Tuesday demanded that action be taken against in-charge District Medical and Health Officer Dr Kondal Rao for alleged harassing a staff nurse.
Representative Rathanamma Voluntary Organisation submitted a memorandum to District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar and Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal, urging them to punish Dr Kondal Rao.
It may be recalled that a contract staff nurse Jyothi, working in Primary Health Centre in Bonakal mandal, lodged a complaint against the Dr Kondal Rao for sexually harassing her.
The district administration constituted a committee headed by the District Welfare Officer R Varalakshmi to inquire into allegation. The Committee after questioning the staff nurse recorded the statements given by her and ordered the DM&HO to appear before the committee.
Dr Kondal Rao appeared before the Committee for an inquiry. According to information, the Committee is likely to submit its report to higher authorities within a week.
