The entire district witnessed heavy rains with gales. More than 2,000 bags of paddy, stored in the premises of market committee yard, were soaked in the rain water. The farmers brought their yield to the market yard on Tuesday morning for selling at the purchasing centre.
The farmers lamented at the loss and appealed to the government to purchase the soaked paddy for the minimum support price.
