The house sites were allotted to only 625 persons 3,400 identified as poor. It was nothing but betrayal of promise, they said.

Khammam: The leaders of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) here on Monday alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samiti government had sanctioned houses sites only to a section of the poor at at Raghunathapalem mandal. The house sites were allotted to only 625 persons 3,400 identified as poor. It was nothing but betrayal of promise, they said.

The CPI-M leaders submitted a memorandum to an official at Revenue Division Office, demanding that the house sites be allotted to all the poor people.

Speaking on the occasion, the CPI-M Two Secretary Y Vikram recalled that the party had been agitating for the last 10 years for house sites for the poor. The government had sanctioned house sites after the party launched the agitation, he said.

CPI-M Three Town Secretary T Lingaiah alleged that local MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar and Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao had promised that the government would allot house sites to all the poor people. But they reneged on their promise, he said.

The party leaders demanded that the TRS government allot house plots to the remaining members as early as possible. They threated to launch agitation if the government failed to sanction house sites to the poor.

CPI-M leaders N Ramesh, Venkat Kumar, J Venkanna Babu, Gurumurthy, Upendar, S K Bibi, Indira and Chiranjeevi were present at the programme.
