Nalgonda: Telangana Save Education Committee district president R Vijay Kumar here on Thursday demanded that the government withdraw its decision to remove few courses and subjects in Government Colleges.

Speaking to the media here,Vijay Kumar said the courses and subjects which have been existing for the last several decades in Government degree colleges in the district are being deleted from the list of proposed courses in 2018-19 UG admissions.

The courses that has been deleted are journalism, mass communication, geography Human Rights etc., it is surprising to note that the same subjects are being allowed in private colleges. It was aiding and encouragingprivatisation of higher education.

Unilateral decision to deletethe courses and subjects without valid academic reasons is detrimental to the growth of comprehensive knowledge and it was to disadvantageous to the students of rural background and oppressed communities. It is also violation of autonomy of Autonomous colleges in determining their own coursesand subjects.
