Mahbubnagar DYSO urges parents to encourage girls to choose sports as career
The District Youth and Sports Officer (DYSO) of Mahbubnagar here on Friday urged the parents in the district to encourage their girl children to take up sports as a career. There is a lot of scope for attaining greater heights for youth in sports.

While speaking at a programme at concluding ceremony of 25 day volleyball training to 10 girls from Mahbubnagar district, Satya Vaani, DYSO said, “The parents should encourage the girl children to take up sports as a career.
We have been seeing many girls excel nationally and internationally in sports like badminton, tennis, volleyball, basketball, cricket and many other sports. It is high time that we needed to change our mindset and gave more opportunities to the girl children as they are having great potential to achieve much better on a par with the male candidates.”
Earlier last month, the DYSO invited interested girl candidates to take special coaching in Volleyball training for 25 days in Mahbubnagar district. With all the girl candidates excelling with flying colours and were being sent to further selection at Hyderabad, the girl candidates were felicitated and were given sports dress and T-shirts by Pratibha, a prominent gynaecologist from Shushruta Hospital in Mahbubnagar.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Pratibha said the girls are no less than anybody else, only thing they need is to move forward with determination and commitment. “Not many women are reaching the top in sports, many are facing various hurdles. However, now times have changed, and girl candidates must set their goals and even though they face many hurdles they should overcome them and achieve their goals,” observed the doctor.
Volleyball Secretary Veeraiah from Mahbubnagar said, particularly the girls must try to get selected at the sports academy level. There you will get better facilities and will get an opportunity for up lifting your selves to national and international level with better recognition. In the end, the DYSO thanked Ronald Rose, District Collector, Mahbubnagar, for enabling the Sports Department to carry out various innovative sports activities for the youth in the district.
