Khammam: Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao here on Tuesday stressed the need to ensure that the Khammam district attains top position in implementation of Rythu Bandhu programme. The Minister along with the Special officer Neetu Kumari Prasad and District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar held a review meeting with the officials to discuss the progress of the programme.

Speaking at the meeting, the Minister said out of the sanctioned amount of Rs 267 crore for distribution of 2,81,958 cheques to 2,78,428 farmers, Rs 212 crore were handed over to the farmers in the form of cheques along with distributing around 2,29,840 pattadar passbooks.

The Minister directed the officials to correct the errors in the passbooks by June 15. The District Special Officer, speaking at the meeting said there was a need to correct about 18,000 passbooks in which certain errors crept in. The officials should complete the it manually.

MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, MLC Balasani Lakshminarayana, Zilla Parishad Cheif Executive Officer Marapaka Nagesh, District Agriculture Officer Jhansi Lakshmi Kumari, Revenue Divisional Officer Purnchandram, In-charge District Revenue Officer Madan Gopal, District Rural Development Officer Indhumati, Lead Bank and Tahsildars were present.
