Khammam: Telangana Ration Dealers Association here on Friday accused the government of stubbornly refusing to consider the demands made by the fair price shopkeepers.

The dealers, supported by Bahujan Left Front activists, burnt an effigy of the government to protest against the government’s “adamant attitude” towards them.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ration Dealers Association district unit president Rayala Prasada Rao questioned how a dealer can survey with meagre earnings between RS 3,000 and Rs 5,000 a month.

When the dealers requested the government to increase the commission and ensure job security, the officials threatened to terminate the dealership of the existing dealers, he said. The dealers, he said, would continue the agitation until the government conceded their demands.

Association members A Ramesh, G Murali, Syed Rafi, R Nageshwar Rao, Tejovath Srinivas, V Lachhaiah, Sunder and the BLF leaders Nunna Nageshwar Rao and Y Srikanth participated in the programme.
