Khammam: District president of the Lorry Owners Welfare Association (LOWA) N Sathyanarayana here on Thursday alleged that many lorry owners and drivers were facing a lot of hardships due to the policies adopted against the lorry transport sector by the Central and State governments across the country.

A meeting was held with the representatives of the association here at LOWA office in Khammam. Speaking on the occasion Sathyanarayana said with the policies adopted by the Central and State governments, many lorry owners and drivers were unable to run their vehicles and facing a lot of problems forcing them live under miserable conditions.

He demanded that the Central government include diesel and petrol prices under GST apart from fixing common rate across the nation and to remove toll gates present nation-wide. He also demanded that the Central government reduce the third party insurance premium along with removing the GST charges and agent commission.

As part of the call given by the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), a nation-wide lorries bandh will be observed from July 20 demanding that the government take back the policies against to the lorry transport sector.

State president of the association N Bhaskar Reddy, general secretary G Durga Prasad, leaders B Purnachandra Rao, K Satish, B Kanakaiah and K Venkanna were present along with others.
