Nalgonda: Former Minister Komatireddy Venkatreddy here on Wednesday said the TRS government had completely ignored the development of villages in the last four years.

Speaking to media here, Venkat Reddy said the government had rendered the Gram Panchayats toothless and fund-starved. The State government has been paying special attention to schemes which got “kickbacks” He accused the ruling party of doing injustice to the Backward Classes in respect of reservations in Gram Panchayat elections.

Venkat Reddy opposed the government’s proposal to appoint special officers for the Gram panchayat until the elections are held. He suggested that the Sarpanches can be appointed as “person in-charge” till the elections are held.

The former Minister criticised the government for its failure to fill the VRO posts. He advised the State government to ensure that the Nalgonda district was not neglected. He demanded that the government provide Rs 100 crore for Tunnel Boring Machine to speed up repairs of SLBC. He said only three to four constituencies in Erstwhile Nalgonda district would be benefited under the prestigious Kaleshwaram project, he said.

Venkat Reddy said the groundwater table was depleting after the government ensured 24-hour power supply to the farm sector. He suggested that the government may cut the power supply to 12 hours a day. Local Congress leaders and Municipal councillors were present at the programme.
