Khammam: Three villages Lokavaram, Battulapalli and Narayanapuram under Kalloor mandal have been selected under the Central government Scheme Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan, according to Agriculture Officer Rupa here on Sunday.

It is to be noted that Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan is the welfare scheme launched by the Central government under the Ministry of Agriculture on June 1, 2018 to provide assistance and aid to farmers to improve their farming techniques and raise their incomes.
The overall coordination and implementation in these three villages of the district will be done by Krishi Vigyan Kendra of the district. The Central government sanctioned Rs10 lakh each for the village to take up activities under Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan.
Agriculture Officer Rupa said that the officials and experts would encourage farmers to take up agriculture in a scientific manner besides providing consultation services under the Programme. The farmers will also be provided with the details about the Union and State governments’ schemes available through the departments such as agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, sericulture and animal husbandry.
Experts will ensure that the farmers deploy modern implements and machinery, she added. The experts will also explain to the farmers about the insurance schemes, importance of soil testing, seed treatment, side effects of excess use of fertilisers and pesticides, sowing methodology and other farm practices during the campaign, she said.
Special training programmes will also be conducted in each of these three villages for 57 f farmers on beekeeping, mushroom cultivation and kitchen garden along with other farming techniques. Women participants and farmers will be given preference for the training program, she said.
