Puvvada’s 75th birthday celebrated

Khammam: The 75th birthday celebration of CPI senior leader Puvvada Nageswara Rao was celebrated in a grand manner here on Saturday. Mr Nageswara Rao’s well-wishers arranged ‘Athmiya Sadassu’ programme on the occasion. State Legislative Council Chairman Chakrapani, Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Horticulture Minister Ramreddy Venkat Reddy and other leaders attended the programme and felicitated the CPI leader.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chakrapani lauded Mr Nageswara Rao’s efforts for the welfare of common people in the district. ‘‘He began taking part in agitations launched by Left parties for the welfare of common people at a very young age. He led a number of agitations, fighting for issue of pattas to agriculture lands, house sites, for irrigation water and demanding compensation to farmers for crop loss. His hard works enabled CPI to retain its strong base in the district,’’ Mr Chakrapani said. TDP MLAs Tummala Nageswara Rao, S Venkata Veeraiah and Rega Kantarao and other leaders were present.
