Vijayawada: Political parties and their double standards are responsible for the present mess in the State, said B V Raghavulu, State Secretary, Communist Party of India Marxist (CPM). Inaugurating the Nanduri Prasada Rao Sramika Bhavan and Sundarayya Library here on Sunday, he said that the Congress party and its hasty decisions were responsible for this situation.
He said that all political parties had earlier taken a stand on bifurcation. But now some leaders of Seemandhra region belonging to the same political parties were agitating against the division. This shows the unethical attitude of today’s politicians. Leaders of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Congress party and the YSR Congress should quit their parties and come forward to lead the agitation, he said.
He opined that all political parties were trying to get benefit out of this agitation. He demanded the Union Ministers from the region to express their stand and come into the agitation. On TDP leader Nandamuri Harikrishna’s move for yatra in support of Samaikyandhra, he said that the TDP had not clearly expressed its opinion on Samaikyandhra till now. He demanded the UPA government to arrange an all-party meeting with all national and regional parties on this issue and resolve the problem soon as possible.
Raghavulu opined that Congress government was dragging this issue to pass Food Security Bill in this session.
He said that the CPM was the only party committed to Samaikyandhra.
