Ganesh idol made of paddy

Vijayawada: A 15-feet-tall Ganapati idol, made up of paddy, was set up at Pujari Street in One Town on the eve of Vinayaka Chaturdhi. Speaking about Chaviti festivities, Sri Bala Ganapati Swamy Devasthanam president Grandhi Srinivasa Rao said that the special Ganapati weighs about 650 kilos. The festivities will be conducted from September 9 to 19, he said.

The idol will be decorated in nine different avatars. The Ganapati will present himself in Rajitha Kavachalankrutha Ganapati, Sri Vijaya Ganapati, Sri Vidya Ganapati, Erra Chandana Ganapati, Sri Lakshmi Ganapati, Nijapada Ganapati, Sri Bala Chandra Ganapati, Siddhi Buddhi Sametha Ganapati and Sri Panchamukha Ganapati. On the last day of the Navarathri festival, Purnahuthi will be held, he added.

He also said that several cultural programmes, folk arts and quiz competitions would be held for students during the festival.
