municipalKurnool: Minister for Municipal Administration N Maheedhar went on inauguration spree in Kurnool on Tuesday. He inaugurated ultra modern toilet which was constructed with an outlay of Rs 20 lakh at Bhudavarpeta on Tuesday. Later, he inaugurated multi-purpose commercial complex at Chankyapuri colony and compound walls with paintings at Vishwesaraiah circle. He also inaugurated roads sweeping vehicle and de-siltation machine at head water works colony. The Minister also opened park and mobile toilets at Ashok Nagar and additional classrooms in CRRMMC School which were constructed with a cost of Rs 31 lakh. Speaking on the occasion, Maheedhar Reddy said government gave top priority to construct community lavatories in municipalities since three years. He added that government decided to beautify Kurnool town and was constructing modern toilets to ensure sanitation and hygiene in the town. A total of 67 modern community toilets were inaugurated in the state so far, he claimed. He vowed that he would implement the blueprint chalked out by his colleague TG Venkatesh in state which was actually meant for Kurnool town. Government decided to provide drinking water to poor and toilets at free of cost in state, he said. Maheedhar Reddy said Mahila Swashakti building would be constructed with Rs 25 lakh in every municipal town and two such buildings would be built in municipal corporation cities. He added that there was no dearth for funds to construct community halls if women groups came forward with land. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Minor Irrigation TG Venkatesh said that 27 community toilets were constructed in the town after persuading contractors who initially refused to construct toilets. He suggested to officers to insist ministers to renovate dilapidated school buildings in the district. MLC Sudhakar Babu, Panyam MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, Erragondapalem MLA Suresh, Collector C Sudharshan Reddy, civic body commissioner VVS Nurthy and others participated.
