Hyderabad: Congress President Rahul Gandhi congratulated badminton champion and Olympic medallist P.V. Sindhu on her recent victory at BWF World Tour. Sindhu defeated Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in two straight sets to make history as the first Indian to win the BWF World Tour trophy.

In a congratulatory letter presented to Sindhu by TPCC Research Secretary Aamer Javeed, Rahul Gandhi lauded her determination and called her victory “a ray of hope for aspiring sportspersons across our country”. The Congress President expressed hope that her success inspires more young women to take up sports. He also stated that he, along with the entire nation, will be rooting for her in the upcoming tournaments and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy also congratulated Sindhu over the phone and wished her success in all future badminton events. The badminton star is ranked number 3 in Women’s Single World Ranking and is presently playing at the Premier Badminton League.
