Medak : Stage is set for launching the 12-day kumbh mela at Panchavati Kshetram on the banks of Manjira River at Raghavapur village in Nyalkal mandal from Thursday.

Sizable number of devotees not only from all over the State but also from neighbouring States like Karnataka, Maharashtra, Orissa, and Haridwar, Ayodha in Uttara Pradesh would attend the kumbh mela. It is expected that several lakhs of people would attend the mela. Kashim Baba aka Kasinadh Baba has constructed Saraswati Kshetram on the banks of Manjira River and developed a few years ago Panchavati Kshetram which is situated on the borders of three States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Several devotees visit the Saraswati Kshetram every day from all the three States and take a holy dip in the Manjira River which is also called Garuda Ganga.Kumbh Mela was organized here for the first time in 2010 in which several lakhs of devotees took holy dip in the river. Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev also attended the kumbh mela then. After a gap of three years, again kumbh mela is being organized this year.

The district administration has made necessary arrangements for the devotees.A Minister for Heavy Industries J Geeta Reddy personally supervised the arrangements for the kumbh mela since it falls in the limits of her Zaheerabad assembly constituency. Bath ghats were constructed and roads were laid to reach the river. Several voluntary service organizations came forward to provide drinking water and food for the devotees.
