Hindu statesman Rajan Zed received warm welcome in New Jersey, Connecticut & Rhode Island states of USA during his recent visit. Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, received the prestigious "Pride of Dharma Award” at Global Dharma Conference in New Jersey Convention & Exposition Center in Edison on September 11 evening.


The “Pride of Dharma Award” citation said: “In appreciation of the significant contributions made towards the protection, preservation and propagation of Dharma”. This Award “recognizes the outstanding contributions of those Hindus who have made a major impact on Hindu society”.


Attended by hundreds; this Conference involved participation of about 60 eminent spiritual, business, science, social, arts and political leaders/experts from various parts of USA, India and other countries. Rajan Zed had dialogue with Right Reverend William H. Stokes, Bishop of Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey, in his Trenton (New Jersey) office on September 11, where he was presented with the diocesan plaque.


On September 11-12-13, Zed met with Dr. H. R. Nagendra, Chancellor of Bengaluru-based Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthanam; Dean of New York Auburn Theological Seminary Rabbi Justus N. Baird; Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri; Padma Bhushan Dr. David Frawley; Brahm Rishi Guruvanand Swami; Swami Tattwamayananda, senior monk & Minister-in-charge of Vedanta Society of Northern California; renowned author Rajiv Malhotra; David A. Davis, Senior Pastor of Nassau Presbyterian Church (New Jersey); Hindu-American Seva Charities founder Anju Bhargava; Pandita Dr. Indrani Rampersad of Trinidad & Tobago; well-known Buddhist monk Bhikkhu Bodhi; Dr. Pankaj Jain, Religion Studies professor at University of North Texas; Swami Shantananda of Chinmaya Mission; Dr. Prakasarao Velagapudi of Global Hindu Heritage Foundation; Dr. Vipul Patel of All World Gayatri Parivar; well-known Bharatnatyam dancer Pavithra Srinivasan; Dr. Marehalli G. Prasad; Yogini Shambhavi Devi; and various other Hindu leaders.


Rajan Zed met with Most Reverend Bishop Christie Macaluso, Vicar General of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hartford; Terry Schmitt, Executive Director of Connecticut Council for Interreligious Understanding; and Dr. Najib George Awad, Christian Theology professor in Hartford Seminary; in their respective Hartford (Connecticut) offices on September 14, and had dialogue. Zed also had dialogue with Gabe Amo, Public Engagement Director of Rhode Island Governor, in his Providence office, on the same day.


Zed had extensive dialogue with Dr. Heidi Hadsell, President of renowned Hartford Seminary in Connecticut on September 15, and also met its Academic Dean Dr. Uriah Y. Kim at the Seminary. He also had dialogue with Right Reverend Dr. Ian T. Douglas, Episcopal Bishop, in his office in Meriden (Connecticut), on the same day.
