New Delhi: The TDP MPs led by TDP Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageshwar Rao on Thursday called on the Director of Enforcement Directorate and urged him to speed up cases against YSRCP supremo Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. The TDP leaders apprehended that the Enforcement Directorate is slowing down the probe due to political interference. The Director of Enforcement Directorate assured the TDP MPs that a team has been formed in Andhra Pradesh and a crack team is also working in the Capital. Both teams are working in coordination and denied that there is any slowdown in the investigations.

In a letter addressed a letter to Director of Enforcement Directorate that handed over during their meeting, the TDP MPs wanted the ED to complete the investigations against Jaganmohan Reddy in the Disproportionate Assets case in a time-bound manner and take penal action under the Prevention of Money-Laundering Act and other relevant laws of the land.
Besides Nama Nageshwar Rao, the other TDP MPs, who signed the letter, are T Devender Goud, Y S Chowdhury, C M Ramesh and K Narayan Rao. The TDP leaders accused some people with indulging in white collar crimes, without regard to the harm to the national economy and national interest. Such crimes cannot be treated casually and these require utmost attention, epxpeditious action and deterrent punishment in the overall interest of the nation. “Unfortunately there does not appear to be no iota of concern and seriousness required in handling these cases,” letter noted. TDP leaders noted that ED has not initiated penal action against Y S Jaganmohan Reddy so far, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The probes have been completely halted, they alleged.
“There are serious apprehensions that this complete slow down is due to political interference of the Government in power. Thus the corruption cases and economic offences by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy are of grave nature and there are no such precedents in the history of the country and the economic offences have to be dealt with seriousness,” the TDP leaders pointed.
The ED has registered a case under Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) No 09/Hzd/2011, dated 14/09/2012 against Y S Jaganmohan Reddy under the Prevention of Money-Laundering Act. Subsequently, Enforcement Directorate has initiated proceedings for attachment of certain assets belonging to the accused. “In a case where the CBI has arrived at Rs 43,000 crore as the size of the corruption so far finalised, the Enforcement’s provisional attachment is negligible,” the letter stated.
