Kolkata students win Aqua Regia science quiz

Soham Chowdhury and Srijit Basu from Don Bosco School, Kolkata, emerged winners of the 2013 edition of Aqua Regia, the finals of national science quiz competitions held in Hyderabad on Wednesday, conducted by Triumphant Institute of Management Education (TIME).

In a see-saw battle with Abhirami G and Amrut representing Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School, Calicut and Sharat Chander and Archit T from GKD School, Coimbatore, Soham-Srijit duo outclass them in a cliff hanger. Abhirami and Amrit were first runners-up while Sharat and Archit the second runners- up in the national finals.

The winning team of the national level final was presented with lap-tops along with cash awards. The first and second runner-up teams were presented with I-pods.

In the morning, the Hyderabad final was held. It was an audio-visual round wherein A D Aakash N and Karthik Nagraj from Vikas Concept School, Kukatpally, turned out winners. They went on to participate in the national finals. Kanav Dang and KP Prathik of Army Public School, Rama Krishna Puram put up a tough fight to finish second. Ameya V and Anupam Mishra from Vasavi Public School, Himayatnagar emerged third.

Aqua Regia, was open to students of all streams from Class VIII, IX and X and was conducted in 27 cities across the country including Hyderabad.
