New Delhi: The Delhi unit of Congress said Tuesday they would approach the party high command to extend "unconditional" outside support to Aam Aami Party (AAP).
Shakeel Ahmed, All India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of Delhi, told "There is a feeling among leaders in the party in Delhi to extend support unconditionally to AAP. But we need to take the opinion of elected MLAs in Delhi and then we will approach the party high command and decide."
The Congress was routed in the Delhi state elections, winning just eight seats in the 70-member assembly, while the rookie AAP bagged 28 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 31 seats.
AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has reiterated that his party will not support or seek support from the BJP or Congress to form the government in Delhi.
